jonah sharp & dj spun pair up as the loose control band to drop a punk-inspired single on rekids with remixes from label founder radio slave and shut boss ryan james ford. having released a large body of work as spacetime continuum (astralwerks) or alongside david moufang as reagenz (workshop), not to mention significant collaborations with the likes of terence mckenna, haruomi hosono and bill laswell, jonah sharp is unquestionably a highly respected producer. his seminal label reflective played an important role in the experimental ambient and techno scene during the ‘90s, whilst as a remixer he’s worked with music by nine inch nails, meat beat manifesto and matthew herbert. meanwhile, jason drummond has long been a commanding force within new yorks electronic music scene, such as running his prestigious warm up music series or his all night rong parties with regulars like dj harvey. hes also been djing and producing as dj spun for two decades, appearing on golf channel recordings as well as his own illustrious imprint rong music, which used to release music collaboratively with dfa. i dont understand sees a raw and uncompromising side to both artists as they layer a cacophony of murky bass, twisted melodies and mind-bending bleeps whilst drummonds turbulent vocals bellow throughout the mix. staying faithful to the original, radio slaves remix incorporates a heady rhythm with its rolling beat as screeching effects join a moody bassline. moving into techno territory, ryan james fords akihabara remix features rattling percussion and crystalline synths whilst his hope remix is built on an intricate drum sequence as soaring pads and echoing keys contrast with the originals piercing vocal.

move d (david moufang) and jordan gcz (jordan czamanski) are back again on wax after a hiatus since their 2015 live in seattle album, on further records. here they team up again for 2 ice hot and slow burning studio jams - recorded this year in amsterdam immerse yourself. tip!

while david moufang, also known as move d, certainly needs no introduction, the label polyfon remained a tip for insiders. it might seem like a long shot, but that’s probably what led to the fact that the paths of david moufang and wolfram both – one of the polyfon founders – crossed a few years back. the erfurt located imprint was mostly recognized for its underdog releases from berlin-based tomtomgroove (the funkman), steffen baldo aka ugly drums from cologne (basement amusement park, the next room) and even workshops mastermind lowtec who released his critically acclaimed angstrom ep with the thuringian label.

some believe music developed as a way to bring early humans together into a close-knit community, and this collection of songs is a perfect example of that theory at work. beautiful vocals from lindsey flowers, an oklahoman ospovat met tokyo. killer sax blown in portland, oregon by noah bernstein, an exceptionally talented friend of ospovat s brother. a driving remix by pablo bolivar in barcelona, without whose generous advice this project would still be a work in progress. a mesmerizing remix by canadian label partner, fellow deadhead, and sound manipulator extraordinaire craig oldring (c_olvrin). and the words of david moufang, who speaks with conviction in *movin to the d* – *…music has a lot to do with communication … working with other people is really essential.* we couldnt agree more.

what needs to be said about move d? overused, though the veteran tag is, david moufang has been producing excellent music for many, many years. yet, the last few have seen him receive particular acclaim, especially for his more house-flavoured work - buoyed by his increased reputation as a dj... already played by ricardo villalobos

there is certainly not enough space to tell you all the great things about move d we would love to share with you. being the musical mind behind the legendary source records imprint, david moufang has always been a versatile and prolific character. from ambient soundscapes to krautrocky epics, jazz sensibilities or straight up techno and house, he has done it all with his own special and unique touch. this lovely fingerprint is spread all over the “cube ep . intended as a tribute to heidelberg’s finest club night of the same name (don’t mix it up with that other square project!) , move d shots two arrows straight into your heart. “cube” is one of those stripped down hypnotic affairs that seem to go on forever and ever just to surprise you with a nice breakdown, before it’s groove sucks you in again. we guess this is what people mean, if they talk about the beauty of simplicity. “heidelberg gals” flips the script in three parts with an old school approach and turns into a monolithic house monster with a bassline to boot. panache! bust a move d!
